Water Bladder Cleaning Instructions
Cleaning the bladder is the most important process to always keep it in excellent condition and ready for use with absolute safety.
Before your first use the bladder and the tube has to be cleaned to remove any remaining from the procedure of the production, packing etc.
For cleaning the bladder you will need the following:
1) Mild soap (Liquid dishwashing soap)
2) Baking soda, white vinegar or cleaning tablets
3) A clean towel
4) A cleaning kit (Not necessarily but will help the procedure)
The parts of the water bladder set:
- Main body (Bladder)
- Neoprene tube cover
- Mouthpiece valve
- Cap of the mouthpiece
Remove all the parts of the set and use warm water and the dishwashing soap to clean all the parts. The cleaning kit can help to reach all the parts.
The lever of mouthpiece must be turned to ON and the bite-valve must be pressed to let the water pass through.
Rinse very well so there will be no remaining of soap.
Connect all the parts again and fill the bladder with warm water.
Add 2 tablespoons of baking or soda or 2 cups of white vinegar close the opening.
Shake well and press the mouthpiece bite valve so water will flow through it. You only need to let some drops of water to pass through it.
Let the bladder with the mixture inside for about 30 minutes.
Rinse all the parts very well and dry it using a clean towel.
Then hang the bladder and the tube and let it to dry completely.
For better results you can use the cleaning kit otherwise you can use any kitchen tool to fit inside to the main body so there will not be any remaining of moisture.
Store the bladder to dry place away from hot surfaces and dust.
The best solution to ensure that your bladder will stay always clean without any trace of mold is to store it in the freezer
In case you feel a taste of plastic, is natural especially for a brand new bladder.
So you can fill the 3/4 of the bladder with cold water and pour inside a cup of fresh lemon juice.
Let the mixture to pass through the tube and let it in the refrigerator for about 8-12 hours.
Then rinse with warm water and follow again steps 5 and 6.
Always clean the bladder after use.
Never store the bladder with remaining drops of water as this is going to let bacteria to grow in it.
In case there is mold created to the interior you can use a very small amount of bleach to clean the interior. In this case you maybe need a brush or a cleaning kit to remove the mold from the surfaces of the bladder.
Always remember rinse very well before you are going to use again the bladder.
